Why Your Training Should Be More Extreme Than Actual Combat.

First of all, training as a martial artist should not only be considered when you are in class. Real training starts when you are at home. If you have a training partner, that is better, but work with what you got. Now the reason why I’m saying this, is because you can put in the actual hours, focus, and intensity into the techniques you need to focus on, when you are at home. No one is moving you on to the next drill without you fully grasping the current drill.

Anyway, the reason why your training should be tougher than actual combat, is because you are teaching your body to endure strain and difficultly. So when the real thing occurs, you will be as efficient and effective as possible. Even if the actual fight does last for a long time, your body and mind will be used to it and it will feel like a breeze. Most people do not give it 100% when they train, that leads them to develop lazy habits when they fight someone on the street. They get tired, they run out of breathe, or get sloppy with their techniques. That is why I say, how you do one thing, is how you do everything else. The brain does not know the difference between you doing something for real and you playing around and pretending. That is why it is important to have good habits. It will be so ingrained into you, that you will not have to think about it and try to stay woke during the task you are doing. I get tired during training too, but I continue, because I know that if I quit, I will quit during a real fight, and that fight may be life or death.

If you look at professional athletes, they train for months and what they are training for is an event that will only last for a short amount of time. They are training their body and mind for the worst possible condition, so the actual thing will be effortless. Usane Bolt, the fastest man on the planet said that, he hates training for races. The reason why is because it is so rigorous. However, look how he performs when he runs. Without the training he would not be able to have his true potential realized, amongst the other professional runners. The person who trains the hardest has more favor leaning in their direction. Another may be talented with the natural ability to do the act and be lazy, but the one who puts in the work automatically raises his chances to exceed the one who does not. No matter how talented they may be. When I was in high school, I started getting serious about being the best fighter I can be. So I put in the work and people who gave me a challenge before, were not able to handle me later when we sparred. They kept on saying to me, they did not know what I was going to do next. If they put in the hours, it would not matter if they did not know what I was going to do next. They would be flowing like me and would not be in their brain trying to predict my strikes. All to make their limited, go to moves work. At this time, it came to a point where my training started to pay off and no one in my high school that I sparred with gave me a problem. This is where I realized the importance of putting in the work at home, to see the results I wanted to manifest. Although, out of the few that did not know I could fight in that school, some of them I had to teach a lesson and the others I avoided because there was no physical danger present. Just because you can fight does not mean you should get into a fight with everybody that challenges you. If you could avoid it, avoid it.
