Simplicity is Key in Fighting

The first thing I want to say is, never get caught up in a certain style of fighting. Every style has its strengths and its weaknesses. On top of that, there can never really be a different style of fighting, unless we as human beings started to grow another set of arms and legs. Other than that, we only have two arms and two legs. In fighting, there is a point where there are punches that are thrown, maybe even kicks. Then some how the two people get close together and end up on the floor, where grappling and wrestling is thrown into the mix. It is a smart thing to learn a mixture of styles, because you want to prepare for anything and everything that can happen.

Chances are, you are probably not a kid reading this, so you do not have the time to master a certain style and repeatedly move on to the next. That is why I do not focus on one style in my courses. My mind is not closed to thinking there is only one supreme way of fighting. I put the essential styles together in a simple way for you to grasp, because simplicity is key. Once a person starts to add on layers to who they are and never discard the inessentials, they will be blinded. It will only feed their ego, because they have a lot of information, but can they use it and apply it successfully? Or are they just gathering the information to feel high and proud? It is like a bodybuilder. The physique looks good and he can lift a lot of weight, but how many times a day, a week, a month does he actually need to apply that strength into daily situations? You want a strength or skill that you can use everyday. That other excess muscle is just holding the bodybuilder back from moving around and fitting into spaces and clothes. He probably gets tired faster than everybody else too, because he has to carry all that weight around. So, simplicity is really the only thing any martial artist should strive to achieve.

I do not fear a person that has practiced 10,000 punches. I fear the person who studied many different punches and found one that he really loves, and practiced it 10,000 times. Let me share with you the techniques and principles you can practice, which will lead you to discovering the strikes and state of mind you can add to your arsenal to reach mastery.
